Journal

A key component to this course is encouraging students to reflect on their teaching practices.  To reach this objective, students will be required to keep a journal where they write their reflections about lessons and activities that are modeled in class.  The goal is to have participants reflect on what they have read and discussed in terms of methodology and encourage them to make connections between the methodology and the PSTDP class itself, the model lessons presented and their current teaching practices. 

This type of connection used in this course is related to the ‘loop input’ approach http://eltj.oxfordjournals.org/content/57/3/301.full.pdf and it is helpful in getting them explore ways they can make their teaching more similar to what they have read and experienced in class.
